This design was inspired by a turkey red bandanna. This era of bandannas is always very interesting detail-wise. The original had a bird motif in the middle and these little feather ornaments on the outside. Yurika and Jonathan wanted to change the centre motif to something more easily recognisable -cardinals. Entirely redrawn from the original, all the details have been changed and everything is original. Inspired by listening to baroque lute music and this design really meshed well with it. Consider this design a sort of modern antique. They don’t do many black bandannas, but this one is an interesting Japanese hue of black. “Sumi” is a lovely softer black that really looks nice next to deep reds and antique whites.
