In our efforts to keep you covered head to toe with these collaborations, we wanted
firstly a winter offering to drop whilst the mercury was still low and then one that
could be worn all year round. This is that, and we had to look no further than two of
Australia’s hone-grown finest in Papa Nui and Troy O’ Shea.
The former being someone that has been here in store, pride of place since the
beginning of the Ampersand empire. The second being slightly newer to the game
and an exciting first for us to collaborate with, though we’ve had the privilege of
seeing and holding many of his excellent hats in hand.
They each produce superb headwear and so to get them both on board is not only
remarkable but worthy of a brand new compound name in… Papa O’Shea.
Enter the Papa here to give you some detail on the cap itself:-
“Papa Nui and PPHH go way back. Christopher was one of my first retailers and has supported the Papa for 10 years.
To celebrate this remarkable achievement I’ve partnered with my favourite cap making maestro Troy O’Shea and collaborated with PPHH on a very special limited
edition cap.
The 10th Anniversary cap is completely hand made by Troy with his 1929 Singer
sewing machine and is built tough with Olive Drab recycled 1950’s US Army shelter
half tent canvas.
Using a WWII A-3 cap pattern we’ve adjusted the fit using brass d-rings to custom
size, and added a N-1 US Navy visor and lined it in Japanese natural canvas.
Mustard yellow cotton is the under visor colour with Hunter green internal taping.
Each cap then features a hand cut wool felt PPHH logo on the side as a final touch.
All in all this is an awesome piece of kit and incredibly worthy of the auspicious event it celebrates.”
So there you have it, a lid for all seasons, using the triptych minds of PPHH store
and two modern masters of headwear.
