From the inception of Pickings & Parry eight years ago, to the opening of Heffernan & Haire, and the almost two years since, it's been a very steep learning curve for our small business. From the outset we've encouraged our customers to adopt a more considered approach to their buying habits by curating a range of products that we believe hold value beyond a passing trend and will hopefully be used and cherished by their owner for many years.

As we've grown our business over the years, our awareness of this industry's impact on the planet has grown in equal measure and, while we are at the 'better' end of fashion and retail in terms of our offering, we are still part of the bigger picture and we must recognise that with growth comes responsibility.

When we decided to raise funds for the Bush Fire Appeal across the 'Black Friday Weekend' late last year rather than joining the masses and discounting our wares, it got us thinking about how we could contribute to help protect our planet in the long term. Enter 1% For The Planet.

Inspired by our friends over at Knickerbocker in NYC, we thought of 1% For The Planet as a way to structure our contributions, hold us accountable and connect us with accredited environmental organisations in Australia and beyond.

We are proud to announce that, as of 1st January 2020, we are now an official member of 1% For The Planet and will donate 1% of our annual sales, regardless of our profits, to environmental aid organisations. With our country suffering the most severe Bush Fires in its history, all of our contributions for 2020 will be focussed towards those organisations supporting the people, animals and communities affected by these devastating events.
