Around them, we built a simple arrangement of dots and lines that reminds me of some of my favorite indigo bandannas from the 1920s. The colours were just as important as the design itself. The reddish-brown was matched from an antique turkey-red textile in my own collection, while the beige was chosen to recreate the soft look of old discharge-printed fabrics. They're subtle details, but together they give the bandanna a warmth that feels familiar and fresh. I love vintage textiles, but I've never been interested in copying them. The goal has always been to learn from the past and create something that feels like it belongs there without pretending it came from there. To me, that's exactly what this bandanna is.
